How Much?

The total cost of putting together the application is certainly cheaper than if you had to go live in Ireland for 5 years to get citizenship, but let's break it down and see if we can figger it out. Here's what I paid. If you were to call the counties directly instead of going through vitalchek.com it would probably be slightly cheaper. Drop me an email if the amount you ended up paying for an item was significantly more or less.

• $185 - application fee ($80 if you're under 18)
• $15 - grandparent's marriage cert
• $16.50 - parent's marriage cert
• $25 - grandparent's birth cert
• $12.50 - parent's birth cert
• $27 - my birth cert (man, Dane county's a ripoff)
• $0 - Notary fees (we have a notary at work. How much is this usually?)

So, $281 to become an Irish citizen (less if you're under 18). Not bad.
